Owning Up to your Mistakes |
I have never blamed
my shortcomings
on my bad luck,
my shortcomings
on my bad luck,
Nor have I cursed God
for my adversities.
for my adversities.
Likewise,
I wouldn’t like to credit
my success
to anyone else but me,
I wouldn’t like to credit
my success
to anyone else but me,
For I have worked hard for it.
Neither luck
nor will God
have anything to do with it.
nor will God
have anything to do with it.
I am equally responsible
for my success
and my failures,
for my success
and my failures,
I despise anyone
claiming credit for either.
claiming credit for either.
I am the creator of my destiny;
and in worst case scenario,
also its destroyer.
and in worst case scenario,
also its destroyer.

ReplyDeleteBabu Moshai, thank you very much again for your faith in me. Your tweet about my post, just made my day. :)
DeleteMing blowing stuff!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the poem, though, at times we are modest to say it loud but it is true. However, this poem has evoked the sense of religion as we are the creator and destroyer. Last three lines are hats-off stuff.
Loved it. I wish I have written this. :)
Dear Saru, I told you the other day, getting a such a huge compliment from a great poetess like you is the most special thing for me. I will cherish it, forever. Thank you so very much. :)

Thank you so much Divya for the constant support. Yes, I don't write poems that often, in fact this is my second poem ever. Hopefully I'll get some courage to write more poems in future. :)

DeleteThank you so much, Ash. Always a pleasure to see you here. Exactly, totally agree with you. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem, loved the message interwoven - subtly yet with a distinct clarity. To take responsibility is one of the hardest things that comes to us and we are ever ready to dole it out on others especially in case of defeat. Loved the 'Creator of my own destiny' thought. Cent percent true, couldn't agree more to it and the one who realizes it is also the one who leads, not necessarily right or wrong, but a very fulfilling life in the end.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back in action, now please keep posting and do not keep us waiting for such long periods of time :)
Thank you so much dear for that profound comment, I am very happy to see your views on my blog, feel privileged as always. :) I can;t be as prolific or as good as you but I do aspire to be. DeleteI apologize if my comment gave you the wrong impression, but I did not mean to hurt you or say that you are not churning out meaningful posts right now. :) All of your works are already meaningful, good and prolific, Just requesting to make it 'A Bit More Often' :):)
Dear Arti,
DeleteYou are very sweet. :) I could never take your comment in the wrong way, I respect your views. I should have commented in a much more mature way as it gave out a wrong meaning from what I actually meant. Please accept my apologies. Have replied to your Indi Mail. :)
