Achilles - A Year in Pictures

I had written about an “incident” which happened exactly a year ago today, that is the day I lost (and found) the most lovable, cutest little guy ever. I christened him “Achilles” as he was so brave and courageous. He has been a member of our family for a year now and it has been one fantastic, roller-coaster ride. He is most delightful little kitty who has brightened up our lives. I can’t think of a day without him, he’s always up to his antics doing something or the other and I just love him to death. To celebrate the one year anniversary of his homecoming, I present you some his most precious moments captured in pictures.

My Little Tiger

Ready to Strike
Achilles used to play a little hide and seek game with me when he was younger. After turning a year older he feels he is too old to play such “childish” games. But when he gives you this look, you know what to expect, don't ever go near him even by mistake, else be ready for some scratches on your arms. I have experienced it quite a few times already.

Bird Watching
Achilles in a very contemplative mood or is he staking out for his next kill? We can never tell what he is up to.

Achilles and Me
With Maa
Achilles watching his younger self
This was a unique moment I was able to capture when I was playing a video of his on my old desktop computer, he came running after he heard his own meows and started staring at the monitor.

Various moods of Achilles

Achilles' sister Enyo was being taken care of by my friend since the past one year and she gave birth to 3 beautiful kittens in September of last year.

  7. Awww...The second shot is my favorite. I don't like having pets but my parents always have all kinds of, from dogs to rabbits to parrots and what not BUT after seeing such lovely shots and narration, even I should have one. So so adorable. Happy Birthday Achilles. :)

  8. Aww! they're beautiful, all of them.

Good for you that Achilles wasn't threatened by the cat on the computer screen. :)

    1. Thanks a lot Divya. They are indeed super cute. :)

Actually, Achilles was looking at his younger self. I was playing a video of his when he was much younger, but yes, he wouldn't have realized he was looking at himself though. He does get all worked up when he hears a cat scream either while we are watching tv or otherwise, goes to every window of our house and keeps looking outside for a while to see if there are any cats around. He calms down after sometime. :D

  9. I love animals, and find dogs adorable, Akshay. Your posts on Zorro and Achilles are so beautiful and touching that they have made me rethink my love for cats too. They look so cute, and your post so clearly conveys your deep bond with them. Your group of pet bloggers seems to be shaping up very energetically.

    1. Thanks a lot Subho ji for your wonderful words. :) I love all animals in general but I absolutely love cats. Zorro and Achilles did find it bit difficult to get along initially but after a few days they became best buds. Unfortunately, Zorro isn't with us anymore, he went missing sometime last year, I have not been able to find him, miss him a lot. :(

  10. Hi Akshay,

Wow, what a cute looking cat and even cuter looking kittens. Indeed, that's a good name to give the brave cat. I just loved the pictures, especially the one where it is looking at the screen at another cat(?). Thanks for sharing the pics. :)

Do check out my entry to Get Published. :)

  14. Happy Birthday Achilles! Though it's Home coming anniversary, it's like the birthday. I am so happy to see Achilles grown up now. I can understand how he must be feeling like to forget the childishness and grown up now. No surprise, he found the place near Bhagwanji, the purest hearts on the earth are cats. That's so cute. I am so happy to see the pics. I love cats like mad and they know it too, cats are very understanding. :-).

    1. Thank you so much, Mohini for your wonderful comment. Yeah, Achilles is growing up so fat, I miss playing with him. And you are very right about cats having the purest of hearts, they exactly convey how they are feeling like innocent child without any pretense or hesitancy. All animals, in fact. That's what makes them so loveable. I know how much you love cats as well, I knew you would love this post. Thanks again. :)
