The Eternal Fighter turns 2 - Blogoversary

To wish the love
of his life
on her birthday,
A naïve,
socially-awkward
and shy bloke,
decided to
create a blog.
He never hoped
she would ever read it,
but still managed
to pour his
heart out.

He never imagined
 he was even capable
of writing more
than four lines,
Yet, gave blogging a shot.
He came up with a
spontaneously
ridiculous name,
The Eternal Fighter,
The Ultimate Comeback Kid.
A name which he is
now proud of,
A name which has
come to define him.

Initially, his friends
 encouraged him
to carry on.
A few ordinary posts,
odd comments,
few months later,
He seriously
considered himself
a “blogger”.
He also naively
considered himself
a “writer” at one point.

He got an opportunity
to interact with
some of the
best bloggers
in the blogosphere,
through IndiBlogger.
Reading their
work regularly,
made him realize,
what “writing”
actually is.
Embarrassed with
the mediocrity he
has been
churning out,
He vowed to improve.

Inspiration mostly
 came from within.
Devastated with
health issues,
He chose to blog
about them.
 Slowly, he realized,
blogging about
what he
“felt”,
made him
very happy.
Writing was one of the
few things which gave him
immense happiness,
during the most toughest
phase of his life.

He continued to do
 what made him happy,
despite his mediocre
writing skills.
He either
blogged
about himself,
or his idol,
Rahul Dravid.
Oh, he also
blogged
about cats.
To conceal his
limited writing skills,
He often resorted to
long bouts of absence.

Along the way,
he made
a few friends for life,
who stuck with him
since the very
beginning.
They read and
commented
on all his posts,
irrespective of
how sub-standard
they were.

He wishes to thank
them from the bottom
of his heart,
for their continued support
and encouragement.
He has survived in the
blogosphere for two years,
only because of his
loyal readers
and friends.

I know, everyone will agree when I say this, one’s blog is not just a blog; it’s an extension of themselves, an important part of their life. I am no different; my dearest blog is a very important part of my life and will always continue to be. I will keep on blogging as long as I can, for it has given me so much, which I can never repay.

Here’s wishing a very happy 2nd birthday to my dear blog. Thank you for everything you have done to me.

  7. Those words are all so true, Akshay! I have been visitingo your blog for over an year now, I know less about your love that prompted the birth of your second love. I know about your affection to The Wall. Here is wishing Many, Many Happy Returns of the Day to The Eternal Fighter, The Ultimate Comeback Kid. Let's raise a toast to you all!

PS: That is a fabulous motto.

    1. It gives me so much motivation to write just to know that a writer of your stature reads and appreciates my work. That's a great compliment in itself. :)

About my first love, well, I have deliberately kept it low-key. Also, I can't really express much about it in words even if I wanted to. :)

Thank you, Sir for your support and encouragement. :)

  8. Stop saying mediocre and such words. As I said, 'There is no good or bad author. There is only one kind of an author that who connects with his readers.' You have done that and that too beautifully and our friendship is a testimony of that. Of course, blog is an extension of us. It was a pleasure knowing you and having you as a friend for lifetime. Keep writing and I am so happy that you chose to write poems on the anniversary. Though, the tone should be filled with confidence.

You write from your heart and connect with us. Just keep doing that. I love the name of your blog. :)

    Cheers!!!

    1. You know, its getting a bit difficult to reply to your comment, as I don't know what to say. Our friendship is indeed beyond thank yous, so thanking you here would seem inadequate. You have been the biggest part of my blogging journey, our friendship has grown stronger and stronger over these past one and a half years and I am glad I found a friend for life, in you. :)

About the post bordering around negativity about my writing, well honestly that is what I think about my writing skills. As I mentioned in one of my tweets the other day, I love being the small fish in a big ocean. :) I am so glad that my posts have connected with you, there cannot be a greater compliment that that. I am honored. I will keep in mind about keeping the tone of the poem, positive. :))

Well, my intention was not to evoke responses like, "You are not mediocre at all..." for calling myself one, but that is exactly what I think about my writing skills at this moment. Thank you, if you think otherwise, I am very glad to know. :)

  20. True words. Our Blogs are like a part of ourselves. It's almost addictive, writing and reading other blogs that you can never have enough of it. And most often, the inspiration to write comes from within, and only if it comes from within, the emotions and thoughts would be conveyed in a wonderful way.

Till date, I've enjoyed your writing style and most of your posts. Your Rahul Dravid post, was one of your best ever. And as Saru said , there can be no good or bad author, it all depends on how one sees it.

Happy Birthday to your Blog :-) Keep writing more and Wish you Good Luck :-)

But then thats what writing is all about isnt ? to express from your heart :) Btw objection on the mediocre part ok . I thought the eternal fighters alway consider themselves the best ! Which you must too . congratulations on the special milestone . Keep churning out more brilliant pieces :)
